World of Writers

Many of my friends and others who know what I do for a living still don’t realize that the majority of my clients are from countries outside my own (US). Some are under the impression that it’s merely a local job. Part of what I love about this profession is that I work with clients from around the world, who have a wide variety of backgrounds.

To continue the theme from my last post, today I’m sharing a list of all the countries that my current and past clients are located in (through 4/11/17).

Total client countries: 23
US clients: 37
Clients outside US: 60
Individual jobs for US clients: 90
Jobs for clients outside US: 174

So, what does this mean? That there’s still a whole world of writers and clients who need me and don’t know it yet!  These figures also include many non-native English-speaking clients in the US who hire me. Be sure to zoom in to see details for each country.

Sunday afternoon writing challenge

Challenge #1: In ten words or less, summarize any traditional or modern classic novel.

Challenge #2: In four words or less, write a spoiler for any traditional or modern classic novel.

Not as easy as it sounds! But fun. Writers, share below.

Rules: Choose a title that has not already been mentioned in this post, the comments or the graphics, and one that you’ve actually read. Movies do not count! (Graphic not necessary, but certainly permitted.)

HERE’S MINE:

Various definitions of a classic (novel):

“A work of art of recognized and established value; the works of ancient Greek and Latin writers and philosophers.” (1)
“A work of literature, music, or art of acknowledged quality and enduring significance or popularity.” (2)
Modern, in this sense, appears to be defined as the “period approximately…from the beginning of the 20th century [1901].” (3)

Aren’t these great? Made me giggle.

Polls for Writers – #7

Creating outlines is one way to brainstorm for writing ideas. They are great for planning and organizing main concepts and research results. They can also help you structure your material, whether you’re writing stories, articles, business copy, websites, essays, etc.

What type of outline do you create for your writing projects? While conducting research for this post, I discovered that there are quite a number of different outlining methods and often, more than one name for the same approach. Links to two insightful articles about outlining that I enjoyed are listed below the poll. This poll allows for you to select 1 of the provided choices AND to also select the last one where you can add a short description of YOUR method.

Thank you so much for participating! Click the follow blog button at the bottom of the screen to see all poll results when I post them in a couple of weeks. Remember to read all choices before voting. *Questions about editing are NOT referring to video editing or graphic design.
